For generations, the Ford F-150 has offered excellent power and towing capabilities. It has done so behind the strength of many different engine types. However, there is one engine option that the F-150 has never offered – diesel. Until now, that is.
After 70 years, Ford will finally be making a diesel version of the popular F-150. According to Ford, the redesigned 2018 F-150 diesel will be available with a new Power Stroke 3.0-liter V6. The F-150 will join the Ram 1500 as the only two trucks in their class to offer a diesel option. While power and fuel economy ratings for the diesel F-150 haven’t been announced, Ford expects the truck to be popular with customers who buy their trucks for towing.
Along with a diesel engine option, the 2018 F-150 will also be getting a styling update. With new grille, headlight and taillight designs that are similar to the ones on the latest F-Series Super Duty, the 2018 F-150 is sure to be an attention grabber.
The 2018 Ford F-150 is scheduled to go on sale this fall. Be sure to visit Bob Sight Ford when it does!

Recently, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named the 2016 F-150 a Top Safety Pick for both the SuperCrew and SuperCab body styles. The F-150 is the only full-size pickup to earn this recognition.
“From the moment our team set out to design and build the new F-150, we knew it had to be best-in-class,” said Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president, Global Product Development, and chief technical officer, in a statement. “This Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick is another example of Ford’s commitment to building the toughest, smartest, most capable and safest F-150 ever.”
To make the F-150 safer than ever, engineers works for thousands of hours to make it more durable and incorporated 31 safety-related innovations into the truck, including new structures that manage crash forces.
