2005 Ford GT at Mecum Kansas City Auction

Mecum Auctions is well known for their world-famous collector car auctions. These auctions take place throughout the year in different cities from all over. Automotive enthusiasts gather at these events to witness and potentially buy from a collection of impressive, sometimes surprising classic cars.

The most recent auction by Mecum Auctions was the last one for the 2017 year. This auction took place in Kansas City where attendees had the pleasure of checking out cars like a 1964 Chevrolet Corvette and a 1986 Ferrari Testarossa. Buyers took home these cars and others from the Mecum Kansas City Auction.

One car in particular was highly desired and sold for over twice as much as any other car. This was a 2005 Ford GT that sold for $265,000. One thing that made this Ford GT so desirable was the fact that it had only been driven 3,600 miles, and was thus in exceptional condition. The second most expensive purchase was a 1968 Ford Mustang Resto Mod that sold for $95,000.

These types of car auctions are great places to explore classic sports cars, and you can find a Mecum Auction near you on their website. Until then, stop by Bob Sight Ford to see what modern takes on the classic Ford vehicles we have to offer.

Have Fun in the Car with Thanksgiving Road Trip Games

For some of us, Thanksgiving means a road trip with lots of family time spent in the car. A road trip is often the cheapest way to travel for a family, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun. You can easily make these trips more entertaining and festive with some Thanksgiving road trip games. We at Bob Sight Ford want to ensure that you’ll have a good time this holiday, so here are some Thanksgiving road trip games to play in the car!

Holiday I Spy:

This is a classic game that families have always played, but we can put a small twist on it to make it holiday-themed! If you’d like, you can orient the game around items that have to do with the holiday season.  To play, pick a passenger to go first and have them select something from your immediate surroundings that has to do with the holidays and say, “I spy with my little eye something that starts with the letter (insert letter).” The person who correctly guesses the spied item gets to go next.

Thanks Word Game

Share what you’re thankful for by playing a word game with a Thanksgiving twist. To play this Thanksgiving word game, have one person—let’s call them the thanks giver—think of something that they’re thankful for that is only one word and announce the first letter of the word to the other passengers (you can extend it to two words if you’re feeling daring, and have them give the first letter of both words). The other people in the car have to guess what the thanks giver is thankful for. Every two minutes, have the thanks giver give the next letter of their word. This game is not only fun, but it will allow you to learn about your traveling companions and what they’re thankful for, and we’re sure you’ll be thankful for that.

Recent Events at Bob Sight Ford Remind Us Why We Love Our Community

It’s been a busy, inspiring couple of months for us here at Bob Sight Ford. From celebrating our 25th anniversary and hosting an insanely fun tailgating fundraiser event at Lee’s Summit North High School to coming together as a community to help those in need in the aftermath of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, a lot has been going on around here. Read on to learn more about recent events at Bob Sight Ford.

25th Anniversary Celebration

Can you believe it? We’ve been in the car-selling business for 25 years! On October 7th we hosted a great day of family fun to celebrate. The afternoon featured live music, tons of exciting activities, a giveaway, and more!

Tailgate 4UR School Event

We absolutely love giving back to a community that does so much for us. On October 6th we teamed up with Lee’s Summit North High School for a terrific day of fund raising for a wonderful school. The event featured food, games, music, and, of course, tailgating.

Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma Donation Drive

In the aftermath of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, we we’re humbled to see our community in Lee’s Summit and Kansas City come together and generously help us collect supplies for those in need. After two successful donation drives, we were able to send a huge variety of supplies to help out those struggling with these natural disasters.

All of these events were reminders of why we love living and working amongst such a supportive community. From all of us at Bob Sight Ford, thank you!

Celebrating 25 Years in Lees Summit Community

Here at Bob Sight Ford, we have committed ourselves to providing high-quality service no matter what you’re looking for – whether you’re purchasing a new ride or coming back to have us check up on your vehicle’s routine maintenance. This commitment to quality has forged a long-lasting relationship with residents of the surrounding Lees Summit community. And now, as of September 2017, we are celebrating our 25th anniversary as a member of this region, serving individuals and families who love their cars as much as we do.

In honor of our 25th anniversary, let us give the residents of Lees Summit a resounding thank you. Without your continuing patronage of our business, we wouldn’t be here. We have spent more than two decades fostering partnerships and delivering our work with friendly smiles, because ultimately, even though we work in the auto industry, our business is with people. The anniversary celebration doesn’t stop there, though; throughout the month of September, we’ll be hosting special events and providing exciting opportunities for the community of Lees Summit.

Are you a member of the Lees Summit community and surrounding areas? We invite you to experience our dealership here at Bob Sight Ford. We guarantee you’ll love our business – and you may even find your next dream car.

Dos and Don’ts of Car Financing

car finnancingWhether you’re buying a car for the first time or the fiftieth time, it can be a scary process, especially since there are so many dos and don’ts of car financing you want to watch out for. Here are some things to do, and not do, before you head to the dealership and while you’re there.

1: DO research what car you want and what you can afford each month before you go in. You want to have an idea in mind about what you’re going to get, how much it will cost you each month, and how much insurance will cost, and then stick to that budget.

2: DO understand credit and how your credit score will factor into a bank’s decision to lend to you. If you have poor credit, look into dealership programs that can help you get approved for a loan or get a break on costs.

3: DO know whether you should buy or lease. Both have their benefits and downsides, so check out this page for more info.

4: DON’T go into the dealership without first researching loan options on your own. It’s better to go with a bank you trust and handle the financing yourself, but if you have trouble, the dealership may be able to find something for you.

5: DON’T trade in a car for less than what you owe on it. The rest of the amount owed will be combined with your new loan.

If you have questions about anything related to auto financing, our team at Bob Sight Ford is happy to help, so give us a call!

Bob Sight Drive 4UR School Event

Bob Sight held a Drive 4UR School event on April 1st, which raised thousands of dollars for the Lees Summit North High School’s Booster Club.  They’re hosting another event on Saturday May 6th for the Lees Summit West Air Force Junior ROTC program. For every test drive taken in a Ford vehicle on that day, Ford will donate $20, up to $8,000 total, with up to $2,000 donated specifically for Ford Focus test drives.

Tons of potential buyers including young drivers came out in April to test drive Ford vehicles, including the 2017 Ford Escape, which was a popular choice thanks to its SYNC 3 capability and various driver assist technologies. With Apple CarPlay and Android Auto available as well as features like the Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control with Brake Support, and Parking Assist, the Ford Escape is the perfect choice for families with new drivers.

The Escape’s SYNC 3 with voice recognition lets you connect your phone through the infotainment system and control it with your voice, so you don’t have to take your eyes off the road. If you have a teen driver, you know the fear of them texting while driving, and this is the perfect way to curb it.

We hope to see a lot more test drivers at Lees Summit West on May 6th! It’s YOUR chance to test drive a Ford Escape as well! For more information about hosting a Drive 4UR School event for your school, or to learn more about the Ford Escape, call us today at Bob Sight Ford!

Ford Bringing F-150 Diesel to Market in 2018

F-150 Diesel
Ford will finally be making a diesel version of the popular F-150. The redesigned 2018 F-150 diesel will be available with a new Power Stroke 3.0-liter V6.

For generations, the Ford F-150 has offered excellent power and towing capabilities. It has done so behind the strength of many different engine types. However, there is one engine option that the F-150 has never offered – diesel. Until now, that is.

After 70 years, Ford will finally be making a diesel version of the popular F-150. According to Ford, the redesigned 2018 F-150 diesel will be available with a new Power Stroke 3.0-liter V6. The F-150 will join the Ram 1500 as the only two trucks in their class to offer a diesel option. While power and fuel economy ratings for the diesel F-150 haven’t been announced, Ford expects the truck to be popular with customers who buy their trucks for towing.

Along with a diesel engine option, the 2018 F-150 will also be getting a styling update. With new grille, headlight and taillight designs that are similar to the ones on the latest F-Series Super Duty, the 2018 F-150 is sure to be an attention grabber.

The 2018 Ford F-150 is scheduled to go on sale this fall. Be sure to visit Bob Sight Ford when it does!
