Ford Motor Company Fund and Drake White Team Up for a Good Cause

Ford LogoMany people might not know that Henry Ford himself was a big country music fan. That’s according to Yisel Cabrera, community relations manager of the Ford Motor Company Fund. Cabrera said that the pioneering founder was also a “believer in making the world a better place.”

It’s over a hundred years later and the Ford Motor Company Fund is teaming up with country crooner Drake White to make the world a better place specifically through the power of country music.

White is a responsible for such hits as “It Feels Good” and “Livin’ The Dream.” It’s the hope of the Ford Motor Company Fund and Derek White that his artistic prowess will help to draw people out for various good causes across the country.

On June 4th in Los Angeles, Drake White will be performing to benefit the American Red Cross. On July 2nd, he’ll be in Detroit helping bring in funds for Habitat For Humanity. Drake will also be putting on shows in Dallas and Boston.

Ford Establishes Ford Smart Mobility LLC

Ford Establishes Ford Smart Mobility LLC

Ford has established a new subsidiary called Ford Smart Mobility LLC to focus on developing and investing in mobility services. Ford Smart Mobility will operate out of locations in Palo Alto, California, as well as Dearborn, Michigan, and will be headed by Jim Hackett, a member of the Ford Board of Directors.

The purpose of Ford Smart Mobility is to pursue opportunities to enter the mobility market and further Ford’s position and reputation as both an auto company and a mobility company. Ford hopes to be a leader in the mobility and autonomous vehicle markets.

Pulling from Ford’s existing body of mobility technologies, Ford Smart Mobility will work with data analytics teams from Ford Motor Company to develop mobility services that are ready to sell as well as invest in other companies’ mobility projects. Ford Smart Mobility will develop these new services independently from Ford and consult with other start-ups.

The executive chairman of Ford Motor Company, Bill Ford, says Ford Smart Mobility isn’t just about addressing today’s mobility issues, but rather “interpret[ing] what mobility will mean to future generations” and will “address the rapidly changing transportation challenges of an increasingly crowded world.”

We at Bob Sight Ford are excited to see what innovative breakthroughs Ford makes in mobility in the coming years.

The 2016 Ford F-150 has been named the “Best Light-Duty Truck for MPG 2016” by PickupTrucks.com, confirming what most pickup truck owners already knew.

Though “MPG” is in the title of the challenge, PickupTrucks.com took more than just fuel efficiency into consideration for this competition, which pitted the Ford F-150, Toyota Tundra, Ram 1500, and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 against each other.

When equipped with the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, the Ford F-150 simply outshined every other truck in the head-to-head challenge. It provided the best combination of power and fuel economy, and every editor had nothing but compliments for it.

“In the end, we were impressed with the F-150 for its capability, fuel efficiency and composure when pushed hard,” said Mark Williams, PickupTrucks.com editor. “For a small V6 engine, it’s very impressive how well it almost eliminates the typical compromises half-ton customers have become accustomed to.”

Thanks to standard Auto Start-Stop technology, the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 also offers best-in-class EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of 19 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. Schedule a test drive today and see for yourself just how good it feels to drive at Bob Sight Ford!

Industry-First Gorilla Glass Launched on 2017 Ford GT Supercar

Industry-First Gorilla Glass Launched on 2017 Ford GT Supercar

Ford is launching something called “Gorilla Glass” on the 2017 Ford GT supercar; it’s supposedly the most lightweight and durable windshield ever featured on an automobile.

According to the automaker, the windshield—which was developed in partnership with Corning Inc.—is about 12 pounds (or 30%) lighter than traditional glass.

Despite being 25%-50% thinner than conventional glass panels, it’s also much tougher, and even scratch-resistant. It’ll be used on the Ford GT’s windshield, rear engine cover, and bulkhead. Eventually, Ford hopes to add the glass to mainstream vehicles like those you can find at Bob Sight Ford, which will help improve fuel economy, reduce break-ins, and mitigate damage in accidents.

Gorilla Glass has been used for years in smartphones, but the Ford GT features an industry-first three-layered hybrid version that has undergone four months of grueling rollover and impact tests. It won’t break when shot at close range with a golf ball-sized hail at 55 mph, unlike traditional glass.

While it’s less likely to break in an accident, rescue teams will still be able to get into a car equipped with Gorilla Glass if needed.
